Consultations

The natural medicine clinic treats the individual, taking an in-depth look into your history, tendencies, mental state, lifestyle and diet.

Initial consultations are for one hour or more, depending on the case. After the consultation you will receive a treatment plan with recommendations and your prescription. Once you are happy, your prescription is dispensed for collection or delivery to your address. In the clinic we work with high quality herbal preparations by producers supplying exclusively to practitioners.

You have a follow-up after 4 weeks and then either every 4, 6 or 8 weeks until you have completed your treatment. Follow-ups last around 45 minutes and will include a review of your prescription as you progress, to tailor the formula to your current priorities.

It is important that we each have autonomy over our bodies. We make suggestions and recommendations but ultimately we are here to support your health journey, whether that be through working with herbal medicine, conventional medicine or a combination of therapies.

We work on the principle that health is not merely the absence of disease, but is a state of wellbeing and balance. Even minor symptoms may be relevant to the treatment picture, informing us about the body’s current state of health and what is happening at a subclinical level.

We work in line with the principle of doing no harm, supporting patients to modify their diet and lifestyle alongside herbal medicine to minimise reliance on conventional pharmaceuticals, to complement conventional medicine, to avoid high risk medical interventions and to minimise further deterioration of conditions where appropriate. With permission we will work collaboratively with other practitioners.

At the first appointment we discuss in detail what brings you into clinic, and any factors affecting this. We run through who you are, and what your lifestyle is like, as well as your medical history, family history and any medications you may be taking. This can take some time, and it is useful if you can prepare a list of your medications and supplements in advance, and any other pertinent information such as test results. This will help us to put together a strategy for your herbal treatment. Following this we take some time to research and reflect on your needs and check that any medications are compatible with the herbs we would like to work with.

You will receive an email with guidance within two days of the initial consultation and with details of your recommendations. Once you approve your prescription and pay, it will be made up and posted to you.

We may also recommend other therapies, such as osteopathy or massage, or further tests to provide a more appropriate and holistic approach to your treatment which you can choose to explore if you wish.
